Family planning includes contraception but may also factor in the prevention of sexually transmitted disease and making sure your body is functioning correctly.
The doctors at Affinity Family Medical can provide a range of family planning options and offer advice based upon your current medical history and level of risk.
These include:
- Contraceptive pills – combined pill & progesterone-only pill (mini pill or POP)
- Contraceptive Skin Implants
- Contraceptive Injections
The doctors can also offer referrals for vasectomy and sterilisation. Should you have any queries, the comfort and confidentiality of a consultation is an ideal place in which to go through them with your GP.
Family Planning Resources
Although your doctor is the most logical place to start with family planning, it is also beneficial to investigate some of the resources available.
The Health Information Line – 1800 017 676
This line connects to a free information and referral service for Queensland women. They assist with health counselling and support on a range of topics that include fertility, pregnancy, contraception, parenting and sexual health.
Fact Sheets
Family Planning Alliance Australia has a variety of resources here, and once again, a consultation with your doctor can be a great place to discuss any queries you may have.
